Wednesday, May 12, 2010

SATO, a pioneer in the Automatic Identification and Data Collection (AIDC) industry and a leader in barcode printing, labeling, and EPC/RFID solutions, announced today that its label design and printing software, SATO Label Gallery™, has been certified as compatible with the latest Microsoft operating system, Windows 7. The Microsoft-designed certification tests represent the highest test standard for compatibility and reliability. The latest release of SATO Label Gallery™, LG3.2.2, successfully met the rigorous certification requirements, thus demonstrating compatibility with Microsoft’s latest operating systems standards.

SATO’s dedication to support the latest IT trends demonstrates its continued commitment to providing its highly valued partners the necessary tools to engage and empower their SATO customers. The Windows 7 compatibility will offer SATO business partners an extended platform to support advanced development for Windows-based applications and thus increase sales opportunities.

“The expectations of our customers are that our products are certified according to latest industry standards,” said Gary Krause, director of marketing for SATO America. “The Windows certification provides our users with the confidence that our products have been thoroughly tested with Microsoft-provided tools, which will ensure a good user experience.” He added, “Addressing the current and future market needs of customers using the Windows platform is to SATO a critical component of customer satisfaction; it also extends to the support that is provided to partners developing applications based on the latest Microsoft technologies.”

Concurrently, SATO has launched a host of new features under LG 3.2.2., which are designed to offer its users and partners more possibilities for label design and management. The new features are as follows:

  • Updated support for GS1 DataBar. All GS1 DataBar bar code variants are now supported, including the GS1 DataBar Expanded Stacked.
  • Support for GS1 DataMatrix. The DataMatrix 2D symbology, which is currently implemented in numerous sectors including automotive and healthcare direct-part marking, is expected to be a key driver of demand for SATO solutions.
  • New support for Brazilian, Portuguese, and Turkish languages
  • Support for Intelligent Mail Bar Codes, the next generation of U.S. Postal Service bar code technology used to sort and track letters and flats.
  • Extended design functionality: For instance, the new variable height option offers new functionality to adapt to the unknown quantity of incoming data. The new button group allows users to define the button-selection group, thus dynamically adjusting to the number of records in the database.
