With the release of NiceLabel 2017, the setup/installation for all editions has been unified into one single installer. In order to obtain/use the FREE edition for use with SATO printers only, you must download the software via SATO America's website. Below are steps to download NiceLabel and select product edition after installation.
Download/install NL2017 from SAL website (otherwise Free edition won't be listed in product edition selection):

NiceLabel® 2019 offers editions from an easy-to-use label designer to a label management system that digitally transforms the entire labeling process. NiceLabel continues to evolve with their next generation labeling software with support of the latest compliance mandates and technologies such as RFID while maintaining backwards compatibility to existing label formats.
NOTE: You must download NiceLabel from SATO America website in order to obtain the FREE edition compatible only with SATO printer drivers otherwise the software will run in 30-day Trial mode for retail editions.

Click on either banner or button to Get NiceLabel which will redirect you to NiceLabel web page to download NiceLabel for SATO. Complete the form information and agree to privacy policy then click Download Now button. This will download the NL2017 installer which contains setup for all editions (PowerForms/Designer Pro/Designer Express & FREE for SATO printers only).
Once NL2017 is installed, you will be presented with a dialog box when launching NiceLabel asking which edition you want to use - if all you want to use is the FREE edition for basic label design/printing, then click Free Edition button.
Customers will have the option to switch between NiceLabel 2017 editions, which is useful to evaluate/determine which edition meets their label design/printing requirements. Click on the About screen and click Change Product Level link to switch between any of the NL2017 Retail Editions (fully functional for 30-days before activation/license is required - use of Free edition is indefinite for installed SATO printer drivers only).
